Monster Island, the Asylum’s 2019 mockbuster was released at the same time that Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The film is about a mysterious, monstrous creature living on an island, which is in some ways the island itself.


The film follows only a few human characters. It keeps its A-listers together on one set in order to shoot their sequences during lunch. This helps keep costs down. (posted) The Asylum may not do so badly considering that it's a kaiju-themed film.
